Day 1 of Cosmo's Cruise
We arrive at the port around 12:30ish. As we wait in the boarding lines, we chat about all the great things we are going to do. We can feel the excitement and anxiety (do they have their passport? Did they remember their underwear? What about condoms? Ya know the STD rate is high in the Bahamas) of the fellow passengers.
After going through security and using my passport, for the first time, Cycles and I board the boat. 1st stop... our room.
Our carry-ons with wheels are anxious to find their new home in our small... Umm cozy room.
Da Room
Our room was like a dark sleepy cave on Level 2. It had two beds (Since, we aren't that close!) and zero windows. You would think that not having a window would be bit depressing...but that is far from the truth. Combine no windows, cold ac, and the rocking motion of the boat and you have the recipe for a coma!
As with all Cruise ships the room leaves a bit to be desired, but who cares. We didn't spend an abundance amount of time in the room anyways, besides falling into the coma like sleep that happens while on ships.
Before heading off to the feeding AKA Buffet, We go to the samples party. Basically a samples party is where the ship offers samples of the various products/food that they would like you to buy. How much better can it get than sampling rum?
I point excitedly and say "Look, there is Sushi samples, lets try one... or 5!"
Cycles responds reluctantly "I'm not a big fan of Sushi, but I will try one"
We wait excitedly for our sushi sample. "Tuna please" We both say to the sushi girl.
After a brief dribble of soy sauce the delicious tidbit goes right into our drooling mouths.
(Have you ever had a moment when you know EXSACTLY what another person is thinking? And you are thinking the EXACT same thing? Well, that happened to Cycles and I. )
"OMFG, This is the worst thing I've ever tasted! Where is the trash can?!" cycles and I thought after a brief chew of the horrid thing called a "Tuna roll". It was the WORST piece of Sushi I have EVER had!
Since we didn't find anywhere to spit out the NAS-TY piece of fermented fish, we sucked it up and swallowed the aberration.
"I hope we don't get sick" Cycles says, with her face looking like she just ate a 1000 year egg.
"Me too... I just want to forget about it ASAP. Lets try the rum!" I said, while wanting to wash my mouth out with soap.
After washing out mouth out with rum (coconut, mango, red ruby vodka, coffee liquor), we decided it's time to eat.
While walking up the 9 stories of stairs to the buffet, Cycles says "This is a nice little work out"
I reply "Yeah, we should always take the stairs, so we earn our buffet"
Cycles agrees to my outrageous suggestion, so that leaves us taking the stairs almost the whole trip. Damn me and my big mouth. :)
The buffet was huge. It was a myriad of food ranging from lunch meat, fruit, soup, and pasta, not to mention the lemonade, tea and water to consume. (NOTE: Sodas & Juices cost extra)
We stocked up and begin our eating frenzy of 4 days.
**I thought that being a vegetarian while on the boat would be difficult, but I was VERY wrong! It was easier than eating out in Orlando!**
After lunch, we meet with our fellow cruise companions. A 10 friends from a dining club Cycles and I attend were on the cruise too. In fact, the head organizer was the one that arranged the cruise.
Eventully the vast amount of food got to Cycles and I, so we went to take a nap while the ship departed for the Bahamas.
Our long nap concluded, we headed off to look at the ship and meet for dinner (Dinner was at 8:30). While in the process of looking around we found the "Theater" and watched the comic on stage making clean jokes about the boats toilets and various ports of call. Cycles and I were enjoying the humor (even though it was clean), when one of our cruise companions laughed so hard he gave our feet a lemonade Vodka bath.
Knowing our feet were no longer thirsty and bemoaning the fact that good alcohol had been wasted, Cycles and I decided to headed off for dinner.
If you haven't notice yet, life on the boat is all about eating. You eat breakfast, then relax. Soon enough it's time for lunch. Relaxing again. After a nap, Dinner isn't far away.
Dinner was Great! I had Caesar salad, chilled berry soup (like a berry smoothie), Mahi tempura, and a fantastic dessert. (I don't remember what kind of dessert, I had so many they run together)
After dinner Cycles and I were going to rectify the problem of Cycles change purse being too full at the Casino, when Jennifer from guest services flagged us down. Jennifer wanted to know if the smell in our bathroom was gone yet.
(Earlier, when we were taking a nap something in our bathroom keep gargling. Eventually our room was full of stink gas and neither one of us was the cause )
We went down to check on the smelly room situation. It did smell a bit better, but it still wasn't completely stink free. Shutting the bathroom door, we waited for the maintenance man to make his appearance. Unfortunately, he was at a loss too.
With our food settling, the cold AC, and the rocking of the ship, we soon feel asleep.
It's amazing how much you can sleep in one day...
Stay tuned for Day 2...
