Yep, it's official, I'm a Veggi-saurus! Well, sort of...

I've been trying to be low key about the whole "experiment" and last night, my beloved begins to push the envelope. It started innocently enough. He was making dinner! Yay! At first glance though, the diced tomatoes for the pasta sitting in the pan looked like raw hamburger (yeah, should have put my glasses on) so I freaked. "Hey! Is that...?" I couldn't even finish the sentence before he said, "Veggie girl, trust me, get out of the kitchen." Thankfully, it really was just tomatoes in the pan and so, life was good again.

But then, the questions started. "Why?" Good question. My answer for now is, my health and animal welfare. Good enough starting place. I'm taking it slow however I refuse to give up sushi...just can't do it and it's not as if I have it every day but the thought of giving it up, ugh, horrors! So, I will be, what does Cosmo's Bud call it, a 98 percenter or even with the fish, a 95 percenter. It's a learning process and if I wasn't already convinced...we watched Animal Planet last night and it was all about big cats. Just putting it out there that cheetahs ARE NOT from the veggie-saurus family. It was horrible, I cried and had to change the channel. I would have been affected even if I hadn't started this whole veggie thing but the cats were so brutal to this poor baby something. Sure, that's nature but when I started thinking about it, I'm quite certain that the treatment of animals in captivity, for our consumption, is a lot worse.

I agree that animals raised for food can be treated badly. That's why I only buy the organic meats. It's better for the animal and also for me. I guess you could call me a 60 percenter since I do eat lots of veggies too. ;)
